How to play Tailpipes
- Hold anywhere on the board to fire the dog's jetpack and climb; let go and it glides back down toward the ground.
- The course scrolls past at a steady clip — thread the gaps in the exhaust pipes rising from the ground and hanging from the sky.
- Gulp the snacks strung along the way: every one you swallow makes more gas, speeding the whole course up for a few seconds.
- Smack into a pipe or belly-flop onto the ground and the dog sits it out for a moment, dropping back through the pack — but nobody is ever knocked out of the race.
- Your rivals fly as translucent ghosts, with a marker at the edge of the board pointing to anyone too far ahead or behind to see.
- First dog home wins, and everyone else has 30 seconds to cross the line and claim 2nd, 3rd, and so on. Go solo to chase your best time.

Tailpipes — frequently asked questions
How do you play Tailpipes?
You fly a dog with a jetpack — a very natural one. Hold your finger (or the mouse button, or the space bar) anywhere on the board and the dog boosts itself upward; let go and it glides back down toward the ground. The course scrolls past from right to left, and your job is purely up and down: thread the gaps in the exhaust pipes rising from the ground and hanging from the sky, and get to the finish line first.
What happens if I crash?
Nothing fatal. Smack into a pipe and the dog is knocked back down the course and sits in the dirt, seeing stars, for a moment before picking itself up; sink onto the ground and it belly-flops and does the same. Either way you lose ground on the rest of the field and your boost tank empties, so you pick yourself up flying on plain air — but you are never knocked out of the race, and you can crash a dozen times and still come home.
What are the snacks for?
They are the gassy kind. Chilies, beans, eggs, sprouts and burritos are strung along the flight path, and every one the dog swallows tops up its boost, which makes the whole course rush past faster. One snack is a sip — it takes a tidy line through a whole run of them to keep the jets lit, and a dog that sweeps up every snack on the course spends most of the race on the boil. Crash, though, and whatever gas you were carrying is gone.
How many players can play Tailpipes?
Up to 6 fly the same course at once. Rivals appear as translucent ghosts flying alongside you, and when one gets too far ahead or behind to be on screen, a marker at the edge of the board points to them and tells you how many seconds separate you.
Does everyone get to finish?
Yes. The first dog home wins, and that opens a 30-second window in which everyone else can still cross the line to claim 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on — so a race is worth flying out even once someone has beaten you to it. Playing alone turns it into a time trial against your own best.
